Bible Aid

Welcome to BibleAid

If you would like to read the Bible but find it difficult to understand, you’ve come to the right place.  BibleAid is a program designed to help people read the Bible for themselves with greater understanding.

Without the luxury of a formal introduction, reading the Bible can be difficult.  Over time many people stop trying and end up relying on other people’s opinions of what it says.  Yet there is so much to be gained by reading the Bible for yourself!  BibleAid will help you do just that.

BibleAid is a weekly program designed for beginning adults who want to start reading the Bible.  It provides background information and fundamental concepts helpful to understanding the Bible.  BibleAid is open to members of all churches (or no church)… everyone is welcome.

BibleAid is held weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  The format is approximately 45 minutes of instruction followed by 45 minutes of questions and answers.  BibleAid is open attendance…no registration or sign-in is necessary and people are welcome to come and go as they please.

If you’ve made the decision you want to know more about the Bible, BibleAid is an excellent place to start.  Come join us next Tuesday evening!

Frequently Asked Questions:

What information does BibleAid cover?

BibleAid covers fundamental background information that’s helpful for approaching the Bible.  It covers topics you’d find in a good “Introduction to the Bible” course except it’s more flexible and actively adjusts to the needs of the attendees.

Topics covered include:

  • How the Bible came to be
  • Different Bible translations
  • Bible timelines and historical contexts
  • Types of literature that comprise the Bible
  • Major biblical themes
  • Reading passages in proper context
  • The history of Israel
  • Israel at the time of Christ
  • Introductions to the various books of the Bible

 Who teaches BibleAid?

BibleAid is taught by volunteer members of the Stamford Church of Christ .  They are people who have had a life-long interest and reverence for the Bible.  Instructors may change from week to week based on availability.

Does BibleAid promote a particular church’s point of view?

Although BibleAid is sponsored by the Stamford Church of Christ  its intent is to present a well-balanced introduction to Scripture free of denominational agendas.  BibleAid approaches scripture from a Christian perspective as the inspired word of God.  Beyond that BibleAid does not advocate a particular church’s point of view.  Members of all churches (or no church) are welcome.

I’m already familiar with Scripture.  Is BibleAid right for me?

Probably not.  BibleAid is geared specifically for beginners.  If you’re already familiar with the basics it would be preferable to join an on-going Bible study program offered by the church of your choice.  The Stamford Church of Christ  offers on-going Bible study classes Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.

Will BibleAid make me an expert?

No!  BibleAid is intended as a first step only.  But every journey begins with the first step and we’re confident BibleAid will start you off on the right foot.
